{"id":4790,"date":"2022-10-01T13:44:08","date_gmt":"2022-10-01T17:44:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sccpaaa.org\/?p=4790"},"modified":"2023-05-10T20:41:22","modified_gmt":"2023-05-11T00:41:22","slug":"fifth-precinct-community-meeting-september-13th-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sccpaaa.org\/?p=4790","title":{"rendered":"Fifth Precinct Community Meeting \u2013 September 13th, 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Data Breach \u2013 Regular emails set up in lieu of usage of county emails<\/p>\n\n\n<p>** First meeting since June \u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>3 shooting in precinct jurisdiction, 2 arrests made, and believed to be very close on third<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Larceny on vehicles is a problem, \u201c<strong>Lock it or lose it<\/strong>\u201d campaign. <strong>Catalytic Converters<\/strong> being cut out of cars, began in the industrial areas, but has moved to passenger vehicles. Mostly Honda and Toyota makes. This has become a major concern for all New York Metro Law Enforcement agencies. (Suffolk, Nassau, NYPD, NYST, MTA etc.) The goal is to try to figure out where these exhaust pieces are being sold. It is believed to be out of New York State.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Homelessness<\/strong> is an issue, there is cooperation amongst the MTA, State Troopers, and local agencies to provide assistance for these individuals to improve their situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Part of this was the campaign to map the \u201cHomeless Spots\u201d and the times where people inhabit certain areas. <strong>Dowling College<\/strong> is becoming a concern as it is closed down, and there are a number of squatters there.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Outreach with Schools \u2013 <\/strong>Coordination from precinct with school districts to formulate \u201cschool safety plans.\u201d Tactics in case of an attack (Couldn\u2019t be revealed in this public setting) There was a push for this ahead of the Jewish Holidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>128 open alcohol and public urination tickets written, 16 DWI arrests, and other moving violations in Patchogue village events over the course of the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two checkpoints were established over the summer where several more DWI arrests were made. (Nothing specific mentioned as to where they were or when)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Body Cameras<\/strong> will arrive in the 5<sup>th<\/sup> precinct in October. A specific date wasn\u2019t mentioned because of the county issues, it wasn\u2019t exactly known. The cameras auto activate if lights on a police vehicle are activated, or a gun or tazer is drawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There will be significant police presence in School Zones.<\/strong> This is because of the beginning of the school year. They weren\u2019t messing around when they were talking about this one.
