Here are the major February 2023 statistics for the 1st Precinct which held its meeting on March 2, 2023:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
20 commercial burglaries;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
6 residential burglaries;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
31 stolen cars, 90% of the cars with keys inside or engine running;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
10 robberies;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No shootings;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
57 car crashes with two fatalities; and<\/p>\n\n\n\n
28 assaults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inspector Brendan Forte, the Precinct Commanding Officer, made the presentation. He said shoplifting in the big box stores continues to be a major problem and the Precinct, in cooperation with the vendors, is trying new approaches to store security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most newsworthy event was a two car head-on collision on February 22, 2023 in West Babylon. One driver going east had a medical emergency and crossed into the westbound lane. He was killed as well as a passenger in the other vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers from various patrol areas were present to address individual concerns of the residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next meeting will be April 6, 2023. The location and time to be announced later. All residents are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
