Dear Alumni Members,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are the major August 2023 statistics for the 1st Precinct which held its meeting on September 7, 2023:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

330 arrests of which a handful involved guns, 2,538 arrests this year;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 commercial burglary;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5 residential burglaries;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

16 stolen cars, with 6 in Lindenhurst;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6 robberies;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 shootings; and<\/p>\n\n\n\n

243 car crashes, 46 with injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspector Brendan Forte, the 1st Precinct Commanding Officer, again asked the community to email tips to the precinct at russellaue@suffolkcountyny.gov<\/a> or nicholasschieda@suffolkcountyny.gov .\u00a0 The sender may remain anonymous.\u00a0 The tips should include specifics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 12, 2023 there was a gang related stabbing at a 7-11 store on Oak Street in Copiague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were two notable 1st Precinct police actions during the month.  On August 17, 2023 officers helped deliver a baby, using a shoelace to tie the umbilical cord.  On August 23, 2023 officers interrupted a catalytic converter theft in progress.  When the individuals were arrested, seven more converters were in the vehicle\u2019s trunk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Amity Harbor Civic Association hosted the meeting.  Residents were told to discuss any concerns with the dozen officers at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next meeting will be on October 5, 2023.  The location and time will be announced later.  All residents are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
