Here are the major November 2023 statistics for the 1st Precinct which held its meeting on December 7, 2023:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
337 arrests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
21 commercial burglaries including 6 in Lindenhurst. Many were smash and grab with broken windows at night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2 residential burglaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
18 stolen cars with 6 in West Babylon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
507 car crashes, 85 leaving the scene of the accident with 2 serious injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
3 robberies, all in West Babylon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1 homicide in North Amityville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deputy Inspector Paul Hyland introduced himself. He was last with Internal Affairs and is the new Executive Officer of the 1st Precinct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inspector Hyland reminded the residents in attendance to not leave their vehicle running, even for a minute, when not in the car. He spoke about the changes to come with a new County Executive and a new Police Commissioner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An underage alcohol sting was conducted at six establishments and all were in compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Community Liaison Officer Russ Aue, who is retiring after 30 years on the job, received commendation certificates from an elected official and a civil group,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next meeting date, time, and location will be announced later. All residents are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
