Here are some of the major statistics from January 1, 2024 to date for the 1st Precinct which held its community meeting on October 1, 2024:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2,300 arrests;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
4,500 car crashes;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
107 overdoses, 26 fatal; and<\/p>\n\n\n\n
22,000 tickets issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inspector Brendan Forte, the 1st Precinct Commanding Officer, made remarks and introduced the speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Detective Lieutenant Shaun Spillane discussed the increase in catalytic converter thefts from older model Hondas, Toyotas, and commercial trucks. The criminals are mostly from New York City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sergeant Kelly Hartill then spoke of domestic violence which is about power and control. She said it takes about seven incidents before most victims would try to get help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next community meeting will be November 7, 2024. The place and time has not yet been announced. All residents are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
