Deputy Inspector Webber presented last night’s meeting. Six new police officers were introduced. They varied in backgrounds from prior NYPD experience, military or college degrees.
Crimes are on the rise. Recently a woman was assaulted at Walmart in Islandia around 4 PM. He stressed to “Know your surroundings”.
Inspector Gabriel from Financial Crimes spoke. His unit deals with a variety of issues but not domestic fraud. About 90 Billion dollars of fraud took place in the unemployment system since the beginning of COVID. IRS scams, foreign scams and PP loan scams are in the rise.
