Dear Alumni Members,

Here are the major September 2023 statistics for the 1st Precinct which held its meeting on October 5, 2023:

339 arrests;
4 commercial burglaries;
2 residential burglaries;
16 stolen cars, with 4 in Deer Park and 4 in West Babylon;
4 robberies;
4 shootings;
a number of arrests involving firearms;
and93 car crashes, 21 with injuries.

Inspector Brendan Forte, the 1st Precinct Commanding Officer, again asked the community to email tips to the precinct at russellaue@suffolkcountyny.gov or nicholasschieda@suffolkcountyny.gov.  He also commended the town of Babylon for its cooperation.

One of the stolen cars was by an 18-year-old youth who drove recklessly and crashed into a residence in West Babylon.  Luckily no one was hurt, including his two passengers.  The owner of the car had left the keys in the vehicle.

Sergeant Kelly Martill, Commanding Officer of the Domestic Violence Unit, gave a presentation saying that it most always is about power and control of the victim.  L.I. Against Domestic Violence also was present.  Its 24-hour hotline is 631-666-8833.

The next meeting will be on November 2, 2023.  The location and time will be announced later.  All residents are welcome.

Respectfully,Justin Cooper
1st Precinct Coordinator
