Dear Alumni Members,

Here are the major November 2023 statistics for the 1st Precinct which held its meeting on December 7, 2023:

337 arrests.

21 commercial burglaries including 6 in Lindenhurst.  Many were smash and grab with broken windows at night.

2 residential burglaries.

18 stolen cars with 6 in West Babylon.

507 car crashes, 85 leaving the scene of the accident with 2 serious injuries.

3 robberies, all in West Babylon.

1 homicide in North Amityville.

Deputy Inspector Paul Hyland introduced himself.  He was last with Internal Affairs and is the new Executive Officer of the 1st Precinct.

Inspector Hyland reminded the residents in attendance to not leave their vehicle running, even for a minute, when not in the car.  He spoke about the changes to come with a new County Executive and a new Police Commissioner.

An underage alcohol sting was conducted at six establishments and all were in compliance.

Community Liaison Officer Russ Aue, who is retiring after 30 years on the job, received commendation certificates from an elected official and a civil group,
