Dear Alumni Members,

Here are the major February 2024 statistics for the 1st Precinct which held its meeting on March 7, 2024:

324 arrests;

4 commercial burglaries;

1 residential burglary;

15 stolen cars;

3 robberies;

447 car crashes with 56 leaving the scene and 2 with serious injuries.

Inspector Brendan Forte, the 1st Precinct Commanding Officer, made the presentation.

Here are several notable comments:

An update was given on the body parts investigation in Babylon and Bethpage.  There was frustration not to be able to seek bail for the four arrested persons under the current law.

The Inspector invited the public to speak to the officers present if they had any unresolved issues.  The public also could request an officer be present at their civic organizations’ meetings and Inspector Forte would try to schedule one.

It was disclosed that additional training has been given on how to handle drunk driving arrests to make sure the arrest was warranted.  Inspector Forte also stated that the most 1st Precinct 911 calls are from the Tanger outlets in Deer Park involving larcenies.

The next Community meeting will be April 4, 2024.  The time and location will be announced later.  All residents are welcome.

Respectfully,

Justin Cooper

1st Precinct Coordinator
