July 2024

COPE officers Nick Schieda and Luke Dentov expertly conducted the informal meeting with Capt. Mike Holman the supervisor.  The residents asked a number of questions which were addressed.

A major 1st Precinct activity was dealing with organized retail theft at the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park.

The top story was the June 28, 2024 van crash in Deer Park which made the national news.  The driver was allegedly drunk and plowed into a nail spa, killing four including an off-duty female New York City police officer, and injuring nine others.  Second degree murder charges are pending.

Two youngsters from the Juliette Troop of North Lindenhurst presented two hand-made posters thanking the Precinct for its good work.

The next community meeting will be September 5 at a place and time to be announced.  All residents are welcome.

Respectfully,

Justin Cooper

1st Precinct Coordinator
