Here are the major June 2025 and July 2025 statistics for the 1st Precinct which held its community meeting on August 7, 2025:

June 2025
330 arrests;
3 commercial burglaries;
0 residential burglaries;
7 robberies;
541 car crashes with 68 leaving the scene; and
10 motor vehicle thefts.

July 2025
386 arrests;
1 commercial burglary;
3 residential burglaries;
4 robberies;
510 car crashes with 59 leaving the scene, 4 with serious injuries; and
16 motor vehicle thefts with 6 in West Babylon.

Inspector Brendan Forte, the 1st Precinct Commanding Officer, conducted the meeting.

Inspector Forte told the residents that about 76% of the motor vehicle thefts involved cars where the engine was running.

There also has been a spike of shootings this year with a number of gun-related arrests. There were 7 gun-related incidents in July 2025.

Inspector Forte stated that the number of drug overdoses were up with Lindenhurst leading the Precinct.

Residents were again requested to forward tips to Precinct Headquarters for investigation and action. It was also noted that police patrols in the shopping centers have been a deterrent to retail larcenies.

The next community meeting will be September 4, 2025 at 7 pm at the West Babylon Public Library. All residents are welcome.
