Bob Murphy attended the 4th precinct meeting on 4-5-2021.

Inspector Regina of the 4th precinct ran the meeting. Deputy Inspector Lawler was also in attendance.

The guest speaker for the evening was Kathleen Kenneally from the SCPD Real Time Crime Center. The center is housed in headquarters in Yaphank.

The center is staffed by representatives of several law enforcement agencies including Suffolk county police, Nassau county police, NYPD and DCJS. It is a collaborate environment with many tools at their disposal. Numerous video feeds from municipal cameras are displayed in the center and there is software used to enhance the videos and aid in investigations.

Fourth precinct COPE Officers Dono and McQuade also spoke to the group.

Inspector Regina noted that the precinct is dealing with an increase in commercial burglaries and car thefts and the steps that are being taken to reduce there incidents. He again urged residents not to leave their key fobs or valuables in their cars. Also lock your doors.

The numerous car gatherings in the precinct were also addressed. The Inspector stated that many steps are being taken to resolve the issues. The participants of these gatherings are coming from New York City and neighboring states as well as Long Island. This is an ongoing issue in several precincts. The precinct is dedicating numerous resources in order to alleviate this situation and described some successes in this area.
