4th precinct Inspector Regina ran tonight’s meeting. The meeting was held at the Hauppauge firehouse as there was a scheduling conflict with the library where the meeting is usually held.

SCCPAAA President Kevin O’Hare, Vice President Lauri Murphy, board members Lou Giudice, Jay Jost, Robert Murphy and Marty Greenstein were in attendance.
The guest speaker was the commanding officer of the pistol licensing bureau Lieutenant Komorowski.
The Lieutenant described the process of applying for a pistol license. He stated that there are 45,129 active pistol licenses and 139,000 registered guns in the five western towns that the county police are in charge of. He noted that there are a tremendous amount of applications and the staff is trying to process them in a timely manner.
He also took questions from the residents.
Inspector Regina then reviewed with the residents the police activity in the precinct during the previous month.
On 4-3-2023 there was a fatal electric scooter accident at Rte 347 and Southern Blvd. in Nesconsett.
On 4-3-2023 there was a robbery of a person exiting his car at Jakes 58. The suspects are two males wearing masks.
The precinct has been cracking down on establishments that are selling E Cigarettes to persons under 21.
170 new officers were sworn in after 7 months of training including 17 assigned to the 4th precinct.
