Dear Alumni Members,

Here are the major May 2023 statistics for the 1st Precinct which held its meeting on June 1, 2023:

1532 arrests this year;

0 commercial burglaries;

5 residential burglaries;

11 stolen cars, a big reduction;

5 robberies;

3 shootings;

333 car crashes, 61 with injuries, no fatalities;

13 drug arrests this year.

Inspector Brendan Forte, the 1st Precinct Commanding Officer, announced that approximately 10,000 summonses have been issued this year, many for unsafe driving offenses.

The Inspector again asked the community to email tips to the Precinct at: russellaue@suffolkcountyny.gov or nicholasschieda@suffolkcountyny.gov.  The sender may remain anonymous.  The tips should include specifics on problem traffic areas and homeowners storing large amounts of fireworks in their garages.

The Inspector discussed several current Precinct programs including false school alarms and consequences, scam warnings, and foot and bicycle patrols in several areas.

Residents were advised that Police will attend civic meetings when requested to address neighborhood issues.

On a personal note, I gave a presentation seeking new members for the Civilian Academy and I gave out brochures and applications.  Several residents said they will photocopy the information and give it out at their various associations.

The next meeting will be September 7, 2023.  The location and time will be announced later.  All residents are welcome.

Respectfully,

Justin Cooper, 1st Precinct Coordinator
