680 crimes were reported in the Precinct for May, 2023.
Last year during the same period there were 565 crimes reported.
Therefore, compared to last year, crime increased by 20.4% for the month of May.

May 2023 crimes included:

  • 0 Homicide
  • 10 Aggravated Assaults
  • 11 Burglaries (2 Residential, 9 Commercial)
  • 5 Robberies
  • 12 Grand Larcenies Auto
  • 1 Trigger Pull (1 6th Precinct Officer Shot) during May 2023 (out of 5 recorded gun crimes).
  • compared to May 2022, when we had 3 Trigger Pulls (2 Victims Shot) out of 4 recorded gun crimes.

There were 242 arrests on 281 charges in May including:

  • 4 Assaults
  • 2 Burglary
  • 37 Drugs
  • 2 Robberies
  • 11 DWis (18 Charges)

There were 24 drug overdoses in the 6th Precinct in May, 6 of which were fatal.

There were 544 motor vehicle crashes
(down 2.6% from May 2022 which had 569 crashes)

  • 1 Fatal
  • 106 With Injuries
  • 18 Leaving The Scene
  • 8 DWI Related

Officers wrote 2718 tickets.
SITE TEAM wrote 105 tickets.

After waning off, Catalytic Converter thefts are now increasing again.

Detectives are looking at a potential new burglary crime pattern emerging.

The next 6th Precinct Community Meeting will be held Tuesday July 11th at 7PM at the precinct.
