Dear Alumni Members,

Here are the major August 2024 statistics for the 1st Precinct which held its community meeting on September 5, 2024:

330 arrests;

4 commercial burglaries;

5 residential burglaries;

4 robberies;

537 car crashes with 67 leaving the scene; 5 serious; and

22 motor vehicle thefts with 6 in Lindenhurst.

Inspector Brendan Forte, the 1st Precinct Commanding Officer, made the presentation.

Here are several notable comments:

The Inspector said that his officers continually train for active shooter scenarios, especially with the present mall and school shootings.  The Suffolk policy is to immediately go towards the threat and eliminate the threat.

A drug overdose problem in the County continues.  In the latest statistics, Bay Shore had the highest number of overdoses.  The 1st Precinct was not in the top tier.  Most victims are male and 70 per cent are white.

Tanger Outlets in Deer Park leads the number of cop calls with Copiague shopping mall and East Farmingdale shopping center at the high end.  Most of the calls involve larcenies.

The 1st Precinct has approximately 200 officers and continues to grow.

The next community meeting will be October 3, 2024.  The place and time has not yet been announced.  All residents are welcome.

Respectfully,

Justin Cooper

1st Precinct Coordinator
