4th precinct Inspector Regina ran tonight’s meeting.

Jason Byron EMS Officer from the SCPD Emergency Medical Training Unit discussed the medical training all recruits undergo in the academy and throughout their career. An informative presentation was made on opioid overdoses. The community members present were trained in the use of Narcan and were given their own Narcan kits to take home.

The Inspector then ran a PowerPoint presentation that showed among other things crime statistics in the precinct. He explained the trends for various crimes in the precinct.

In August the SITE team which consists of highway patrol officers assisted the precinct enforce traffic violations in certain areas. Numerous moving and non-moving violations were observed and 135 summonses were issued.

On 9-5-2024 4th precinct units responded to Sachem North high school after being alerted that a 15 year old student had brought a knife to school. The student was charged with CPW 4th degree. Another student who had previously threatened him on social media was charged with aggravated harassment 2nd degree

On 9-5-2024 a 20  year old was arrested for public lewdness at the Walmart in Islandia.

On 9-6-2024 a subject entered a sixty one year old female’s vehicle in the Islandia Walmart parking lot and pushed her out of her vehicle, stealing the vehicle. 4th squad detectives are handling the case.

On 9-13-2024 police responded to Daisy Lane in Commack for a report of an armed burglary. The male suspect displayed a gun to the homeowner and pushed his way into the home. The homeowner was assaulted but managed to push the suspect outside onto the front lawn. He fled on foot. 4th squad detectives responded and are handling the investigation.

After an investigation by the 2nd, 4th and 7th squad detectives an arrest was made for numerous church burglaries in August.

The next community meeting will be held on November 12th at the Smithtown Library Nesconset Building.
