4th Precinct Community Meeting 9-2-2025


Inspector Patrick Mahan ran tonight’s meeting. Lauri Murphy, Robert Murphy and Rich Perez of the SCCPAA board were present.

A presentation on Intranasal Narcan was made by an SCPD Academy instructor. It was very informative. The presentation described Opioids and Opiates as well as the administration of Narcan to individuals that may be suffering from exposure. An overview of the medical training that the police academy recruits go through was also presented.

The Inspector ran a PowerPoint presentation that showed crime statistics in the 2nd precinct. He explained the trends for various crimes in the precinct. Total property/violent crime decreased 15.4% compared to last year. (Year to date).

Traffic stop activity increased 0.8% in the precinct (Moving/Other) compared to last year. (again Year to date)

There were 50 fatal motor vehicle crashes in the precinct so far this year which is a 17% decrease.

The Cannabis Enforcement Initiative continued this month. Compliance checks were performed at various retailers regarding the sale of Cannabis, vaping and related products. Seven locations in the precinct were inspected for compliance.

On August 26th an e-Bike rider was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash in Ronkonkoma. The e-Bike was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Hawkins Ave and School Street. The rider was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital and was treated for serious injuries.

Two men were robbed in the south parking lot of the Ronkonkoma Long Island Railroad station. The case is under active investigation with the 5th squad detectives.

The precinct participated in National Night Out at the Smith Haven Mall on August 5th. It was a tremendous success.

The next community meeting will be held on October 7th at the Nesconset Library. The meeting begins at 7PM.
